A Few Fun Crafts

Lately we've done some crafts that were really fun and has helped the month of February go by a little faster.....it's March! Yay!

1. Name Art

The kids practiced writing their names and various letters with different kinds of foods. I just put various things like noodles, rice, oats and cereal on a plate. First they used glue to write the letters and then used the food to cover the glue.

2. Cupcake Craft

This next one, we got from another site- Classified Mom and it's one I posted for Valentine's Day. It was really fun and gave us the idea to do another one like it. You can find the original post here. You need card stock or a tshirt box, that type of paper, construction paper, shaving cream, glue and foam brushes.

One a side note- the shaving cream will last you forever! And I bought foam brushed at Walmart, a pack of 12 for $1.50!

First we cut out the cupcake liner- the shape of a trapezoid, and then you fold it like an accordion and glue that to the card stock. Then you mix equal parts of the shaving cream and glue for the frosting. Have the kids use the brushes to brush on a thick coating on top of the liner. It doesn't have to be exact because after you let it dry, you cut out the cupcake shape. After the frosting- have the kids add sprinkles in various shapes- cut out from the construction paper. Let dry overnight before you cut it out. It's super cute! And it's so neat how the frosting dries, it's basically puff paint.

2. Ice Cream Puff Paint Craft

So...we got the idea to make ice cream cones this same way. I just needed more glue, but the shaving cream will last you through many crafts! I used the exact same principles for this craft, only we make ice cream cones. Still as much fun! We did different colors for the ice cream, which you can also do for the cupcakes.
